Hawks Netball Club Senior training is on a Wednesday evening at St Ives Outdoor Centre from 7.30-9.00pm. A ‘coaches clinic’ will run from 7.00-7.30pm to focus on specific elements for both coaches and players, should any members want to come along to work on their personal skills or shooting practice before Club training starts at 7.30pm.

Training is run by certified coaches and combines elements of fitness with specific netball-related skills and drills. We have occasional guest coaches including a wonderful Solo Sessions ran by Sasha Corbin, Hawks founder Helen Stepney and some of our other club coaches. We are also are looking to develop further coaches and umpires within the club with mentoring and support available for those members looking to get more involved.

Matches are an integral part of each training session with regular match play evenings, coached match play and friendlies against other local clubs to provide additional opportunities to develop whole court and team strategies. Competitive matches are played on weekends and Thursday evenings during the winter season and weekday evenings during summer season.

Winter league is the most competitive season running from around September to Easter we will have 3 teams playing in CDNL League in Division 2, 3 and 5 as well as two teams in the Fenland Winter League. Divisions provide competitive matches for all abilities with players being named to a team at the start of the season. We provide the opportunity to ‘play-up’ in a higher division where needed to help with personal development and to support the club as a whole.

Summer leagues is more friendly in nature, with teams being placed in groups depending on their winter league results. We entered 2 teams for 2019 and a finished a close 2nd in Division A and winners of Division D. Which with many new players was a fantastic result. For 2023 we have one team in the Fenland summer league which is a mixture of our 2nd and 3rd team, and a team in the CDNL summer league who have been placed in Division A due to finishing high in division 2 for the 2022 – 2023 winter league. This team was made up of our 1st and 2nd team.

League, club and mixed tournaments are played throughout the year, and along with Summer League and KC Cup matches are a great opportunity to play against different teams and with different team mates, to build on skills, fitness….and generally have a lot of fun.
