UK Coaching – Duty to Care

Our Head Coach Becky has been putting her time off court to good use and has achieved her UK Coaching Duty to Care badge.

The program has been developed as a series of Knowledge Checks and coach learning resources set across the five distinct pillars that represent the Duty to Care ethos: Safeguarding, Inclusion, Diversity, Well-being and Mental Health.

Becky, like UK Coaching believe that great coaching is beyond just the technical and tactical elements that make up the playing of a sport. It’s about the person-centered experience, i.e a coach-participant relationship that is positive, motivational, caring and rewarding.

We look forward to getting back on court with her soon!

🦠CORONAVIRUS UPDATE🦠

Last night as you may have seen, we all received an email from England Netball regarding the current situation with the Coronavirus. England Netball have reviewed the current Government guidelines and have made the decision to suspend all netball activity across the country.

CDNL have further commented on this and have suspended the rest of the winter league and put Summer League and the AGM on hold for the time being, but have promised to get us all back on the courts as soon as they can.

This sadly means that all our training will be immediately suspended until further notice. And we will be putting squad trials and our club AGM on hold until we know more.

We will continue to follow any new guidance from the Government and EN and keep you all informed. But for the meantime stay safe, stay active where possible and we hope to be back on the court all together soon! 💜 🦅

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the committee.

January’s rearranged games

Due to the weather making one of the courts at Milton unplayable Hawks have been busy fitting in rearranged games on some rather cold and drizzly evenings. Hawks 2 kicked off last week with a fantastic 33-21 win against Rockets, with a flying start in Q1 finishing 12-4 and 10 mins of Q2 played with only 6 players due to a blood injury. Hawks 3 played Jets last night finishing 20-39, the result didn’t reflect the match, with some great play from all being built on throughout the game. Well deserve bonus point for getting within half. Well done Ladies!

Super Sunday

Hawks 1 faced Harriers this Sunday. With a combination of H1 and H2 players the game started strong with a Q1 win for Hawks. A close game followed with some fantastic patience, considered play down the court. The final score sadly didn’t go our way finishing Hawks 46 Harriers 51. But a well deserved bonus point for finishing within 5 and their highest score of the season so far, well done ladies.

With a rare weekend off for our CDNL teams and as we catapult towards the Christmas holiday half way point, time to have a look at the tables…

After a rocky start Hawks 2 are finally finding their feet, securing 2 solid wins and some promising progressive play in their last 3 games. We hope to see them continue to climb the rankings to start the second stage of games out of the danger zone.

Hawks 3 have had an impressive start securing 4th place in Division 4. Our Hawks Newcomers have made a fantastic addition to the team and we hope to see them continue to go from strength to strength.

Over in CCNA Hawks 1 have been struggling with a string of players having to take time out due to injury. We wish them a speedy recovery and will be cheering on all the Hawks 2 and 3 players playing up in the premier league to supporting the team.

Continuing the winning streak…

Last night we entered a mixed team of Hawks 2 and 3 into City of Ely’s Children in Need Tournament along with 11 other teams. £358 was raised for charity….and we WON!!!

Absolutely smashing performance from all the girls! All the strategy work we have been doing at training was really put into practice. You did Hawks very proud! ….More chocs to add to the CDNL Quiz Night winning stash to share out at training this week.

Hawks news

We are very excited to announce that we have a Sport Massage Therapist joining Hawks Netball Club. Jo Phillips has recently qualified as a Level 3 Sport Massage Therapist and will be joining us to provide treatment for Hawks Netball Club Members. She will work along side players to make sure we are all in top shape and performing our best on the court. Welcome to Hawks Jo!

Hawks 2 – 33 – Haddenham 23

Fantastic friendly against our friends at Haddenham. It was a rather chilly evening with a great performance from both squads. The game was a chance to try some new combinations and rotations in anticipation for our league games and resulted in a win for the home side. Well done Ladies.
