Fenland League Update

Hawks Netball Club have had an impressive start with 21-8 and 20-7 wins over Ramsey Rockets and Hinchinbrook Harriers. Week 3 bring Sawtry Kites as our opposition and a new line up of some of our newest Hawks. Both the club and our sponsors would like to wish them the very best of luck…can we make it 3 wins in a row!?

First training of 2021, started off with some warm up to help us remember how to throw, catch and move again after what seems like the longest time away. Then match play to blow away the cobwebs! Bound to be some sore bods tomorrow, but great laughs had by all and some fantastic new faces!

See you all same time next week 💜🦅 xx

We are recruiting!

The long awaited news is here, we are will be back training from Wednesday 14th April (YEY).

All our covid risk assessments have been updated and protocols will be in place so that everyone is able to safely enjoy their return to cour.

After the long break, there will be a few feeling a little rusty but we know it will be wonderful to be able to be out of the house in the evening having fun with the girls and enjoying netball again.

All senior newcomers (over 16s) are welcome! If you are interested and what to know more visit our newcomers page for more information and email Tara newcomers@hawksnetball.co.uk who will be able to get your free trail session arranged.

As we all know these are very uncertain times but as we reach 4b of the roadmap back to netball, Hawks Netball Club are happy to be welcoming newcomers again!

While we wait with bated breath for news of a return to competitive match play from the lovely ladies of CDNL, we have started back at training on Wednesday evenings 7.30-9pm in St Ives, Cambs.

Using our new Teamo app managed by our Covid officer and our Head Coach, you can easily keep track of your sessions and notifications as well as the Covid track and trace function. All sessions are run within the government and England Netball guidance, with all the precautions (and restrictions) in place. Allowing us to work on fitness and individual skills as well as set play, team skills and getting back to some adapted match play.

With the dark nights drawing in and people feeling increasingly isolated and frustrated. Netball is a great way to banish the blues, have fun meeting some new people and great fitness for those feel good endorphins.

We aren’t sure when we will be back to ‘normal’ (or if we ever were) but if you would like to join us along the way, find out more more about the club or to arrange a taster session please get in touch newcomers@hawksnetball.co.uk

UK Coaching – Duty to Care

Our Head Coach Becky has been putting her time off court to good use and has achieved her UK Coaching Duty to Care badge.

The program has been developed as a series of Knowledge Checks and coach learning resources set across the five distinct pillars that represent the Duty to Care ethos: Safeguarding, Inclusion, Diversity, Well-being and Mental Health.

Becky, like UK Coaching believe that great coaching is beyond just the technical and tactical elements that make up the playing of a sport. It’s about the person-centered experience, i.e a coach-participant relationship that is positive, motivational, caring and rewarding.

We look forward to getting back on court with her soon!

WE ARE BACK!!!!…(ish)

Hi All,

From Wednesday 1st July, the club will be running netball-related sessions at HILL RISE PARK, in St Ives. For up to 5 members per session. In line with the government guidance.

The time for these sessions will be 7pm to 7.45pm and/or 8pm to 8.45pm and further information will follow for those wanting to attend.

We won’t be sharing equipment or working in groups. Activities will be solo sessions working on individual skills and fitness. Clean equipment will be provided for each session but you are welcome to bring your own netball if you prefer.

We want you to feel safe so only attend if you feel ready to. Fiona has completed a Covid-19 risk assessment which has been emailed out to all members and is also available on GroupSpaces. Please have a read of this before you come along and feel reassured that as a committee we want help keep you safe.

If you are a Hawks Netball Club Member and would like to join a session please drop an email to Becky coaching@hawksnetball.co.uk. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Fingers crossed it will not be too long before we are back on the courts and welcoming Newcomers again! If you have any questions in the meantime or would like to enquire about joining the club please get in touch newcomers@hawksnetball.co.uk.

We are looking forward to seeing the Hawks ladies back in action.

Last night as you may have seen, we all received an email from England Netball regarding the current situation with the Coronavirus. England Netball have reviewed the current Government guidelines and have made the decision to suspend all netball activity across the country.

CDNL have further commented on this and have suspended the rest of the winter league and put Summer League and the AGM on hold for the time being, but have promised to get us all back on the courts as soon as they can.

This sadly means that all our training will be immediately suspended until further notice. And we will be putting squad trials and our club AGM on hold until we know more.

We will continue to follow any new guidance from the Government and EN and keep you all informed. But for the meantime stay safe, stay active where possible and we hope to be back on the court all together soon! 💜 🦅

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the committee.

January’s rearranged games

Due to the weather making one of the courts at Milton unplayable Hawks have been busy fitting in rearranged games on some rather cold and drizzly evenings. Hawks 2 kicked off last week with a fantastic 33-21 win against Rockets, with a flying start in Q1 finishing 12-4 and 10 mins of Q2 played with only 6 players due to a blood injury. Hawks 3 played Jets last night finishing 20-39, the result didn’t reflect the match, with some great play from all being built on throughout the game. Well deserve bonus point for getting within half. Well done Ladies!
