Last weekend saw the Hawks 1 squad turn out for their first (proper!) Prem AGM tournament. Despite the heat and some very tough opposition, the team secured 6th spot out of 16 teams. They couldn’t quite repeat the tournament victory from a few seasons ago (!) but a great team effort which will set them up well for the season ahead!
Also, a massive well done to Alice from H2 who completed the London Marathon this weekend!!
After a hard fought season, Hawks 2 found themselves fighting for their Division 2 place next season against Thundercats. There was some great play and amazing resilience shown by the H2 squad but, despite the constant pressure they applied and a true team performance, Hawks 2 were the eventual runners up with a score of 28-23 to Thundercats.
Summer League starts April 19th at Milton. Check you email for confirmed line-ups for all scheduled matches.
Hawks 2 took to the cold and snowy courts on Saturday to play B52’s. We played well and the wind was against us but we dug deep and pulled an great win 38-18. Well done everyone and thanks to Alex and Kirsty from H3 for helping out you both played had an awesome game! ❄️🏀💖⛄️
Hawks 3 had a game on Saturday against Ely6. With only 1 shooter it was always going to be a tough game. We did well up to the 3rd quarter where realised we were only 1 behind. I feel this resulted in a panicky final quarter which meant the goal difference between us and Ely increased to a final score of 19:23 to Ely. Well done to Juliette who got player of the match but also to Anita and Alex who had a fantastic game as well in defence.
Attack worked well bringing the balls down but with the combination of the wind and minimal practice we sometimes struggled to turn shots into goals.
Hawks 3 had a game on Saturday which we unfortunately lost by one goal, the identical outcome as last time we played Little Thetford. Our first two quarters were strong with us having a good lead but we had a switch around for the third quarter which didn’t work in our favour and we lost our lead. This meant that the fourth quarter was spent catching up and we just didn’t quite get our earlier lead back. A disappointing result of 29:30. Xxx
Hawks 2 played Haddenham this morning. We knew it was going to be a tough one and once we got into our rhythm there was some great play of transitioning the ball down court. Our nemesis ‘timing’ made things a little tricky at times but there was some excellent decision making demonstrated when moving the ball down the attacking third.
Well done to Sarah and Katie for playing through injuries in the last quarter and congrats to Sarah for PoM. Great play though and within 5 so that’s an extra point 🙂
Hawks 1 had a fabulous start to their season in the Cambridgeshire Premier League, finishing a very respectable 10th in the first half. Well done ladies.
